Narrative
Jill has been on the business litigation team at Schulten Ward & Turner since 2002. Prior to joining the firm, Jill practiced business litigation in Atlanta for several years and then in Jackson, Mississippi, where she still maintains an active license. Her practice involves the prosecution and defense of a wide variety of business and real estate litigation issues, including confirmation of foreclosures, slander of title, construction liens, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, intellectual property disputes, trade secrets violations and general contract disputes
Accomplishments
- Won Summary Judgment for Foreclosing Lender who had modified loan documents and was accused of wrongful foreclosure, conversion and conspiracy to deprive a materialman of payment out of excess proceeds. Gibson Construction Company v. GAA Acquisitions I, LLC, 2011 WL 310936 (February 2, 2011)
- Won significant award of Attorney's Fees against the Contractor/Plaintiff in GAA Acquisitions I, LLC
- Won Summary Judgment for Business that sold property and was sued by broker for commission
- Successfully mediated settlement on behalf of 26 noteholders after filing suit for fraudulent inducement to invest $2 million in start-up company
- Negotiated settlement and transfer of routes of express delivery company to rightful owner, after obtaining emergency injunctive relief to halt conversion of routes by party who had breached purchase contracts
- Successfully mediated settlement on behalf of general contractor and agent of developer involving outstanding balance over $1 million due on stalled project
- Successfully negotiated settlement on behalf of national internet sales company after seeking injunctive relief and damages for trade secrets violations and breach of fiduciary duty
Jill currently serves as Vice President and Legislative Liaison for the Board of Directors of AMIKids Georgia, Inc., a non-profit organization that is affiliated with Associate Marine Institutes, and is dedicated to finding alternatives to traditional youth detention centers in order to help troubled youth develop into responsible and productive citizens.
