Narrative
Martin began his legal career in 1995 with an Atlanta-based international law firm, but left that firm after a year to pursue an environmental practice with a boutique environmental firm. Over the course of eleven years, he served as the primary and later senior attorney in matters of environmental litigation and compliance including several precedential appellate decisions. In early 2007, he was asked to lead the new environmental practice group at Schulten Ward & Turner, LLP. Since joining the firm, he has been pleased with the diversity of the practice he is able to pursue, including environmental litigation, both traditional cost recovery and plaintiff matters, land use litigation, environmental compliance and Brownfields development assistance. He also has enjoyed the level of resources and diversity of practice areas offered by the firm as a whole.
As a lawyer, Martin has always strived to serve each of his individual clients with the highest level of professionalism while also ensuring that the goal of analyzing and solving their environmental issues has been met as well. Whether as a plaintiff or defendant, he has successfully counseled clients on solutions which seek the best financial position as well as the appropriate action for the environment. His practice has included trial and appellate work in the areas of water quality and storm water management, solid and hazardous waste contamination, air and noise pollution, and the preservation of natural habitats; environmental compliance under water permits and on hazardous waste sites; and land use disputes in both the zoning and property law contexts.
